World Sea Turtle Day Webinar: Our Future with Sea Turtles with Dr. Blair Witherington

 Tuesday, June 16 |  12–1 PM EDT

In a changing world, we struggle to bring what is familiar, beautiful, comforting, and instrumental with us into our future. Sea turtles are one of these valued elements. They are ancient animals, mysterious yet accessible, threatened yet persevering, and models for the connections within our natural world. The sea turtle story is one of historic tragedy, modern challenges, intriguing relationships, and glimmers of hope. In this presentation, Blair Witherington will highlight what makes our sea turtles unique, how these fascinating and inspiring creatures benefit our lives, and how we might return the favor.

This webinar is hosted by the AZA Sea Turtle SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) Program and the Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Network.

Improving Federal Investment in Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation

Learn more about the Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Act, the bipartisan federal funding bill that supports organizations responding to and caring for threatened and endangered sea turtles.

The Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Act is a bipartisan effort to strengthen federal support for organizations responding to and caring for stranded sea turtles. Led by the National Aquarium and partners nationwide, the bill seeks to expand an existing federal grant program to include rescue and rehabilitation facilities that play a vital role in sea turtle conservation. With broad support from Congress and dozens of conservation organizations, this legislation would provide sustainable funding to ensure more sea turtles recover and return to the wild.
Presented by Maggie Ostdahl, Director of Conservation Policy, and Ryan Fredriksson, Vice President of Government Affairs, both from the National Aquarium.
